This Privacy Policy describes how Nanosocials ("Nano", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, stores, and shares your personal information when you use the Nano platform ("Platform"). By using the Platform, you consent to the practices described in this policy.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide

Account Registration:

  • First name and last name
  • Email address
  • Password (stored in hashed form only)
  • Account type (Influencer or Brand)

Influencer Profile:

  • Username
  • Content niche selection
  • Bio and profile picture
  • Location and timezone
  • WhatsApp number (optional)
  • Rate card pricing information
  • Bank account details (for withdrawals)

Brand Profile:

  • Company name and industry
  • Company website URL
  • Company description, size, and location
  • Budget range
  • Brand values, target audience, and brand tone
  • Key products and services
  • Company logo

Campaign and Content Data:

  • Campaign names, descriptions, and briefs
  • Campaign assets (images and videos)
  • Content deliverables submitted by influencers
  • Application messages and portfolio links
  • Published content URLs

1.2 Information from Social Media Accounts

When influencers connect social media accounts (Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Twitter, Facebook, or LinkedIn), we collect the following through our data provider Phyllo:

  • Public profile information (display name, bio, profile picture, verification status)
  • Follower and following counts
  • Post counts and engagement metrics (likes, comments, shares, views)
  • Engagement rate
  • Audience demographics (countries, gender/age distribution, interests)
  • Audience authenticity metrics
  • Recent content performance data
  • Business account status

1.3 Information Collected Automatically

  • IP address (captured during email verification and authentication)
  • Browser user agent information
  • Product usage data and interaction events (via Mixpanel analytics)
  • Page views and feature usage patterns

1.4 Payment Information

  • Transaction amounts and references
  • Bank account details (bank name, account number, account name)
  • Payment gateway references (Paystack)
  • Wallet balance and transaction history

Payment card details are processed directly by Paystack and are not stored on our servers.

1.5 Information from Third-Party Authentication

If you sign up using Google OAuth, we receive your email address, first and last name, and profile picture from Google.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

Provide and operate the Platform:

  • Create and manage your account
  • Process campaign creation, invitations, and applications
  • Facilitate content review and approval workflows
  • Process payments, deposits, and withdrawals
  • Verify your identity and bank account details

Match influencers with campaigns:

  • Calculate influence scores and tier classifications
  • Analyze social media metrics to determine campaign relevance
  • Generate match scores between influencers and campaigns

AI-powered features:

  • Generate brand profiles from website content
  • Suggest campaign descriptions and briefs
  • Generate influencer bios and application content

Communications:

  • Send transactional emails (verification, password reset, payment confirmations)
  • Send notification emails (campaign invitations, content review updates, earnings)
  • Send marketing communications (if you opted in)

Improve the Platform:

  • Analyze usage patterns to improve features and user experience
  • Debug technical issues
  • Prevent fraud and enforce our Terms of Service

3. How We Share Your Information

We share your information with the following parties:

Between Users on the Platform:

  • Influencer public profiles (display name, bio, niche, social metrics) are visible to brands for campaign matching and discovery
  • Brand campaign details are visible to influencers who receive invitations or browse available campaigns
  • Content deliverables are shared between the participating influencer and brand

Third-Party Service Providers:

  • Phyllo: Social media account data aggregation and metrics. Phyllo accesses your connected social media accounts to retrieve public profile information and analytics.
  • Paystack: Payment processing for wallet deposits and withdrawals. Paystack processes your payment card information and bank details.
  • Google Cloud Platform (GCP): Cloud storage for uploaded files (profile pictures, campaign assets, content deliverables) and infrastructure hosting.
  • SendGrid: Email delivery for transactional and notification emails.
  • OpenAI: AI content generation. Campaign details, brand information, and influencer profile data may be sent to OpenAI to generate suggestions. OpenAI processes this data according to their own privacy policy.
  • Firecrawl: Website content extraction for AI-powered brand profile generation. Only the website URL you provide is sent to this service.
  • Mixpanel: Product analytics to understand how users interact with the Platform.

Legal and Safety:

We may disclose your information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, safety, or property of Nano, our users, or the public.

4. Data Storage and Security

4.1 Where Your Data Is Stored

Your data is stored on servers provided by Google Cloud Platform. Uploaded files (images and videos) are stored in Google Cloud Storage. Our database is hosted on PostgreSQL via GCP infrastructure.

4.2 Security Measures

We implement the following security measures to protect your data:

  • Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text
  • Authentication tokens are cryptographically generated (SHA-512) with 24-hour expiration
  • HTTPS/SSL encryption for all data in transit
  • CSRF protection on all endpoints
  • Email verification tokens are single-use and expire after 24 hours
  • Payment card details are handled entirely by Paystack and never touch our servers
  • Service account authentication for cloud storage access

While we take reasonable measures to protect your data, no system is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your information.

5. Data Retention

We retain your data as follows:

  • Account data: Retained for as long as your account is active. Upon account deletion, personal data is removed, though anonymized records may be retained for legal or business purposes.
  • Email verification tokens: Expired and used tokens are cleaned up after 7 days.
  • Social media metrics: Periodically refreshed and updated. Historical data is retained to track performance trends.
  • Campaign and content data: Retained for the duration of the campaign and a reasonable period thereafter for record-keeping and dispute resolution.
  • Transaction and payment records: Retained as required by Nigerian financial regulations and tax law.
  • Uploaded files: Retained for as long as the associated campaign or profile is active. Deleted files are removed from cloud storage.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correction: Update or correct inaccurate personal information through your account settings or by contacting support.
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your account and personal data by contacting support. Some data may be retained as required by law.
  • Disconnect social accounts: Remove connected social media accounts at any time through your account settings.
  • Opt out of marketing: Unsubscribe from marketing emails using the link in any email or through your notification settings.
  • Notification preferences: Control which notifications you receive and through which channels (email, WhatsApp, SMS) via your account settings. You may also set do-not-disturb hours.
  • Profile privacy: Control the visibility of your social metrics, collaboration history, and contact information through your profile privacy settings.

7. Cookies and Tracking

The Platform uses local storage and session storage in your browser to maintain your authentication state, store onboarding progress, and remember your preferences. We use Mixpanel for product analytics, which may set cookies to track interactions across sessions. You can manage cookies through your browser settings.

8. Children's Privacy

The Platform is not intended for use by individuals under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 18, we will delete that information promptly.

9. International Data Transfers

Your data may be transferred to and processed in countries outside of Nigeria through our use of third-party service providers (such as Google Cloud Platform, OpenAI, SendGrid, and Phyllo). These providers may process data in the United States or other jurisdictions. By using the Platform, you consent to such transfers. We ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place with our service providers.

10. Nigerian Data Protection Compliance

We are committed to complying with the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR) and the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA). This includes collecting data lawfully and for specified purposes, processing data fairly and in accordance with this policy, retaining data only for as long as necessary, and taking appropriate measures to protect personal data against unauthorized access or loss.

If you believe we have not complied with your data protection rights, you may lodge a complaint with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC).

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or through a notice on the Platform. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates when the policy was last revised. Your continued use of the Platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
